The Pacific Northwest Highland Games, which in 2006 year will host its 60th edition, is one of the largest Scottish Highland gatherings in the Pacific Northwest and one of the oldest in the United States. Featured annually are nearly two dozen pipe bands, including the multiple World Champion Simon Fraser University Pipe Band. Hundreds of pipers and drummers are joined by almost the same number of highland dancers. In addition, sevral of the best Scottish athletes in the Northwest will be competing in the athletic arena. Finally, a large number of spectators ensure a wide selection of Scottish vendors.
